Royal Shakespeare Company / RSC Costume Workshop & Courtyard / Royal Shakespeare Company
The refurbishment of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s costume workshop saw the development of information displays to be featured within the workshop and an outdoor seating unit amongst graphic paneling in the courtyard.
The hanging displays provide information for those on backstage tours to illustrate costume development from concept to stage. The displays also contain bespoke artwork featuring silhouettes of tools used within the workshop, printed directly onto seamstress cutting mats and hung with a finished frame.
The laser cut corten which encloses the raised garden in the courtyard hosts designer, Simon Leach’s, artistic interpretation of flowers featured in Shakespeare’s, A Winter’s Tale. Corten is used again for the frame of the bench that sits underneath the floral mural fence, with wooden slats providing the seat of the bench.
