You will be working under the direction of our project and production manager and alongside our existing team of experienced makers. Standard8 design, make and install cultural exhibitions, wayfinding systems, information graphics, bespoke furniture & sculptural pieces. We work with some of the world’s foremost Photographers, Design Agencies, Cultural Centres & Charities to produce unique, high-quality, design lead projects that excite our audience and innovate within our marketplace. We operate from our well-equipped workshops in Portslade, Brighton, incorporating a Design Studio, Wood & Metal workshops, a Fine Art Digital Print Studio and a Vinyl Graphics department. Our turnkey operation has proved to be a huge asset to our client base. Individuals must have a high level of skill with either, Joinery, Metal fabrication, or Signage fabrication. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our work, we are keen to learn about other skills you have to offer. Do you have experience with CNC operation, acrylic fabrication, laser cutting, CAD drawing or other? It is essential that you have experience of working from drawings and to specification. You have keen attention to detail and a clean methodical approach to your work. You should be able to carry out tasks with minimal supervision and work to tight deadlines. Once the work has been completed in our Brighton workshop you may be asked to travel to site for installation and the final reveal. This is where our product goes on display to the public almost as soon as we are finished. We take great pride in our work. There can be no snag list! Prior experience within exhibition, graphic installations and high-end fit-out environments will be an advantage. You will ideally have a full driving license and are able to drive our vans. Any other qualifications relating to the construction industry (CSCS, Health and Safety training etc), would be highly beneficial. This is a full-time position offered on a permanent basis subject to a successful probationary period. Salary will depend upon experience. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of what we do this is an opportunity to experience and gain insight into a range of specialisms. Most of the work is carried out within our wood and metal workshop. We run a large format wood and metal CNC machine, a laser cutter and carry out bespoke signage work in various materials. You will from time to time assist within our print room and vinyl graphic department. Once the work has been completed in our Brighton workshop it is then taken to site for installation and the final reveal. This is where our product goes on display to the public almost as soon as we are finished. You may be asked to travel with us to site to assist with the installation stage. We are looking for highly motivated and practical makers who are serious and excited about progressing within a professional making environment. You will be able to show a competent level of practical making skill. You will have keen attention to detail and a clean methodical approach to your work. You will be reliable and a good timekeeper. Above all a positive and can-do attitude is essential. We are looking for candidates to join immediately for an initial 3 to 4 month period. Remuneration will depend upon skill level and experience. Print and Graphic Production Assistant

We are looking for an experienced print and graphic production assistant to join our print room team.

You will work under the direction of our print manager and alongside our existing team. We work with some of the world’s foremost Photographers, Design Agencies, Cultural Centres & Charities to produce unique, high-quality, design lead projects that excite our audience and innovate within our marketplace. We operate from our well-equipped workshops in Portslade, Brighton, incorporating a Design Studio, Wood & Metal workshops, a Fine Art Digital Print Studio and a Vinyl Graphics department. We are looking for candidates to make a real contribution assisting in the operation of this department and become part of a group of people all working towards a successful, creative, positive environment. Candidates must have a high level of skill and at least two years’ experience with either, large format fine art print or signage graphics. Prior experience within exhibition or graphic installations will be an advantage. You must be an excellent timekeeper when working to tight deadlines. You have keen attention to detail and a clean methodical approach to your work. You should be able to carry out tasks with minimal supervision and keen to take on responsibility. Tasks include • Vinyl production and application. • Creating vector artwork and preparation of cut ready files. • Mounting and lamination of large-format material. • Stock management. • Machine maintenance. • Production of artwork to a professional technical standard. • Proof of printed images to a high standard. You must have high-level skill in at least 3 of the following; • Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop. • Operating and use of vinyl cutting machines. • Running large format digital printers, with RIP experience, we use ONYX. • Colour profiles and colour management. This is a full-time position offered on a permanent basis subject to a successful probationary period. Salary will depend upon skill level and experience.
